Day Trip

With Cam working at least 60 hours a week still, I am super excited to spend any possible time with him. Last week he needed to go pick up some stuff for work in New Orleans, so Hudson and I tagged along for a quick trip. We didn't have much time, but we were able to go to the French Quarter, where we walked down famous Bourbon Street. Once again, I was wishing so badly that I had a new camera. There is so much character there! How grateful I am for the time I got to spend with Cam, even if most of it was spent driving in the car.... plus I love seeing new places! (P.S. Katie, we were in a hurry, but will call you when we come to N.O. again!)

The Big Day!

Look at our big boy! (He weighs 24.5 pounds!) I think I am finally breaking Cam down to buy me a new camera so I can get some better shots of him. He's getting so hard to get a good picture of! I'm definitely going to take advantage of our family and friends who take great pics when we are visiting in Utah next month to get some worthy to be called his one year pictures!

I am so thankful for the great people we have met here. I have already learned so much from the people in Louisiana. Here are some of our friends who helped us celebrate our baby boy. We ended up having a BBQ down at the pool. I thought it worked out great!
I really wanted to make Hudson a birthday cake. Looking back now I think I was crazy, but Cam and I actually had a lot of fun making it. I just had to tell myself that it wasn't going to be perfect and I had to be okay with it. I wish I would've gotten some better pictures of him with the cake beforehand. I needed five hands that day! The ones of him eating it go in order. He was so timid at first, which we couldn't believe, but about 5 min later after everyone stopped watching, he got right into it! I love the bottom middle pic. So fun! Like most things that you look forward to, the day went by too fast! Things didn't go exactly as I wanted, but the good thing about him only being one is that Hudson didn't care! We are so thankful for our little guy and the joy he brings to us every day. I know our lives would be much more difficult without him to remind us of the things that are really important. We love you Hudson!

Hudson is ONE!!!!

So since I don't scrapbook, I decided that each year I will make our kids a video from that year for their birthday. I figure it's better than nothing! :) I look forward to watching it with Hudson as he is older and telling him the stories that go with each picture. I love pictures because they help us remember things, and I want to remember every minute with this kid!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUDSON!!!!

We get to spend a day together as a family! I'll post more about the b-day later.

Good Times

We've been able to do some fun things with a few of our friends lately. (Well, really we only have a few friends here! haha!) My friend Katie is living in Louisiana for the summer, but unfortunately about 4 hours away. Her husband had some training the other day a lot closer to where we live, so Hudson and I met up with her and her darling boy Hunter. We went to this quaint little zoo and had a great time catching up. We'll have to do it again Katie! We also went to the pool this week with my friend Lindsey and her daughter Aurora. She and Hudson have so much fun together! It's fun to watch them play, and they both loved the pool! Yay for summer!

I took Hudson to play on the swings for the first time yesterday. He was pretty scared at first, but liked it once he got a little used to it. I love this face!

Cousin Time!

Last Sunday my cousin Ashley and her husband David came from San Antonio to see us. Ashley and I have been great friends since we were little, thanks to my grandparents flying me to CA every year to spend summers with them. It was so wonderful to have some visitors! We hope that we'll be able to go see them soon. They are one of our evacuation plans if a hurricane hits, so we might actually look forward to bad weather! :)

We went to Houston for a few days and had a great time! These were taken at the temple. Ashley was so nice to watch Hudson for us while we did a session together. It was a beautiful day!

After the temple, we headed downtown and went to the aquarium. We had a good time, even though we weren't too impressed with it. More pics to come later!

Mother's Day

My mom tells a story about when she was pregnant with me and they told her on Mother's Day that she had a ridiculously low (I think 5%) chance of carrying me long enough to make it. She had gone through I think 6 miscarriages before this after having my brother Tim. What a great Mother's Day gift, right? Obviously, however, neither of us gave up that easily! This is just one of the many things my mom has gone through that show what an amazing person she is. She is so thoughtful, selfless, and wants nothing else but to do the will of our Heavenly Father and be a good mom. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful mother and wish I could be there to give her a big hug and kiss today. I love you mom!
My mom on our trip to Nauvoo I am also extremely blessed to have a wonderful mother- in- law. I know many people who don't get along with their in-laws, but that isn't the case for us! I love Cam's mom! She is so supportive and a great example of getting things done! I know that my wonderful husband would not be the man he is without her loving influence now and as he was growing up. She raised 8 amazing kids and I hope to follow her example. (Not with 8 though!) :)

Cam's mom
I know I didn't ever realize a mother's love until I became a mommy myself. I am so grateful for Hudson! I can't help but smile when I think of him! Yay to my first Mother's Day!!! Hope all of you moms and future moms have a great day!

Hudson

Not too much going on here except for Hudson changing so much and doing new things every day. It is so much fun! Cam and I get the biggest kicks out of him, but that's just part of being a parent, right? :)

He finally started crawling, but still prefers to scoot around because he is so fast at it. I don't care what he does, I am just glad that I know that he knows how to crawl! He loves pulling himself up on everything and moving around the furniture. Outside is one of his favorite places. He sits on the patio and waits for Daddy to come home and then cries when I bring him inside. He has also become great at giving kisses (I especially love this!) and clapping. We had a talent show at a ward party last night and every time people clapped, he got so excited and clapped right along. So cute! He has his two bottom molars now, and is currently in the process of getting a top one and the teeth on the bottom next to the middle ones. Wow! I don't even know until I brush his teeth, so that's good! I can't believe my baby will be 1 in less than a month! Any good party ideas?
