First Steps!

We have been so excited-Hudson took his first steps last Saturday! Ashley and I were just sitting here and he took off! I couldn't wait for Cam to see. We love watching Hudson's wobbly walk. It's so cute! Yay for our big boy!

We got him!

For Father's Day, I wanted to surprise Cam with a shotgun that he has wanted for a long time. I especially wanted to give him something special because of how hard he has been working for me and Hudson. Well, while driving up to girl's camp a few weeks ago with the Bishop, I mentioned what I wanted to do and about 30 minutes later I had the gun bought and sitting in the truck! I don't think 10 minutes passes when guns aren't brought up in conversation here, so I had to give Cam something to talk about! :) I am usually terrible at ruining surprises, but this time it worked out perfect! Once everyone heard what he was getting, they all wanted to be there to watch him open it, so we had a big dinner together with some great food! I had given him what he thought was his gift earlier in the morning, so when I brought out another one later on that night at the Young's house, he was not expecting it at all! It's so nice to have wonderful friends here to share these memories with. Thanks everyone who helped make this special day happen!

Does he look happy? :)

Hudson loves soft blankets no matter what color they are!

Forever Friends

I think that one of the signs of a great friend is that you can go a long time without seeing them and when you do, it feels like you've never been apart. I was lucky enough to have one of these friends visit me this week. Ashley and I met while I lived in Atlanta being a nanny and immediately became friends. We decided to go on a little road trip to the beach in Alabama while she was here. Here are some pics of our fun time together!

We had such a great time with Ashley! She is one of the sweetest and most amazing people I know and we will for sure be friends forever! We love you Ashley and miss you already! Thanks so much for coming to see us!

Day Trip

With Cam working at least 60 hours a week still, I am super excited to spend any possible time with him. Last week he needed to go pick up some stuff for work in New Orleans, so Hudson and I tagged along for a quick trip. We didn't have much time, but we were able to go to the French Quarter, where we walked down famous Bourbon Street. Once again, I was wishing so badly that I had a new camera. There is so much character there! How grateful I am for the time I got to spend with Cam, even if most of it was spent driving in the car.... plus I love seeing new places! (P.S. Katie, we were in a hurry, but will call you when we come to N.O. again!)

The Big Day!

Look at our big boy! (He weighs 24.5 pounds!) I think I am finally breaking Cam down to buy me a new camera so I can get some better shots of him. He's getting so hard to get a good picture of! I'm definitely going to take advantage of our family and friends who take great pics when we are visiting in Utah next month to get some worthy to be called his one year pictures!

I am so thankful for the great people we have met here. I have already learned so much from the people in Louisiana. Here are some of our friends who helped us celebrate our baby boy. We ended up having a BBQ down at the pool. I thought it worked out great!
I really wanted to make Hudson a birthday cake. Looking back now I think I was crazy, but Cam and I actually had a lot of fun making it. I just had to tell myself that it wasn't going to be perfect and I had to be okay with it. I wish I would've gotten some better pictures of him with the cake beforehand. I needed five hands that day! The ones of him eating it go in order. He was so timid at first, which we couldn't believe, but about 5 min later after everyone stopped watching, he got right into it! I love the bottom middle pic. So fun! Like most things that you look forward to, the day went by too fast! Things didn't go exactly as I wanted, but the good thing about him only being one is that Hudson didn't care! We are so thankful for our little guy and the joy he brings to us every day. I know our lives would be much more difficult without him to remind us of the things that are really important. We love you Hudson!
